 About the Role 
Based at our global headquarters in Adelaide, we are looking for an experienced and passionate AI Developer to join our team and drive the integration of AI technologies into business applications and processes. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI-based solutions that improve productivity, automate processes, and reduce costs across the organization. Your expertise in machine learning (ML), deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP) will help create intelligent systems that unlock valuable business insights and drive innovation. 

As an AI Developer, you will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing platforms and build new applications, ensuring optimal performance and scalability in real-world environments. 

Key accountabilities include:   
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions. 
  • Work closely with data scientists and engineers to clean, preprocess, and prepare data for AI applications, ensuring high-quality inputs for model development. 
  • Implement scalable AI models and algorithms to automate processes, improve business efficiency, and reduce operational costs. 
  • Validate, test, and fine-tune AI models to ensure they meet performance, accuracy, and robustness requirements in real-world environments.
  • Integrate AI solutions into existing software platforms or build new applications that utilize AI to drive business outcomes. 
  • Continuously monitor and maintain deployed AI solutions, ensuring they perform optimally and adapt to changing business needs. 
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI technologies, incorporating new techniques and best practices to improve model performance and workflows. 
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and user training materials to support the adoption and understanding of AI solutions across the organization. 
  • Provide direction and guidance on AI projects, mentoring other developers and advising on best practices for AI solution design and implementation. 
  • Work with stakeholders from various departments to understand business requirements and translate them into effective AI-based solutions. 
  • Ensure adherence to the Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and corporate governance and safety requirements.  

About You 
  • 5+ years of experience in software development or machine learning engineering, with a proven track record in real-world AI model development. 
  • Familiarity with version control tools (Azure DevOps, Git) and CI/CD practices for efficient development cycles. 
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and optimization skills for AI models in real-world applications. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams. 
  • Hands-on experience with AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, scikit-learn) and integrating AI models into production environments. 
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++, with experience in AI libraries, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and data engineering (ETL pipelines). 
Ideally, you will be degree qualified in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and or related field. 
Industry certifications in AI or machine learning (e.g., Google AI Engineer, AWS Certified Machine Learning  Specialist) would be highly desirable.
