At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:
Based at our Brisbane office, the Area Scheduler contributes significantly to supporting field operations within Santos’ Centre of Excellence (COE) framework. This role is responsible for developing and managing maintenance schedules for wells and facilities ensuring alignment with safety standards, resource availability, and production priorities. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and contractors, lead scheduling processes, drive schedule compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement across onshore maintenance. Your work will directly support the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of plant and equipment.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Creating and releasing high-quality maintenance schedules aligned with business and operational timelines
  • Supporting the safe and reliable operation of plant and equipment through structured planning
  • Balancing resource use effectively across teams and regions to meet operational goals
  • Leading regular schedule review and close-out discussions with internal teams and contractors
  • Working collaboratively with technical specialists and cross-functional teams to align schedules with work plans
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying areas to enhance processes and consistency
  • Overseeing schedule compliance across planned (PM), corrective (CM), and backlog activities in line with our Operational Excellence framework
  • Building strong working relationships across teams, with a focus on open and inclusive communication
  • Supporting safety goals by aligning maintenance schedules with compliance requirements
  • Helping to coach and guide others in upholding Santos' values and performance expectations
  • Coordinating with the Materials Coordinator to ensure equipment and materials are ready when needed
  • Supporting contractor engagement and effective coordination of work
  • Ensuring all work is delivered in accordance with company policies and safety standards
  • Responding with flexibility and focus to changing priorities or emerging needs
  • Maintain strong working relationships with site-based teams, including quarterly visits to the Cooper Basin to support alignment between planning and execution.

What you’ll bring:
You will be experienced in:
  • Experience in gas processing, production operations, or similar technical or industrial environments
  • Strong planning and scheduling capabilities, with a focus on structure, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Confidence in using SAP, Prometheus, or other CMMS and scheduling systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related applications
  • Clear and collaborative communication skills, with a focus on building strong partnerships
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and an eye for continuous improvement
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team
  • A strong commitment to safety and the ability to prioritise wellbeing in all planning activities
  • Experience working with contractors and other external stakeholders
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured, people-focused environment where planning, communication, and teamwork come together to make a real difference.
