Description & Requirements

Don’t come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.
At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:
This position will be responsible for overseeing DevEx’s commissioning and start-up activities for new skid installs and facilities across Eastern Queensland, Cooper Basin, Northern Territory, and Narrabri.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Ensure Company and contractor personnel comply with the Company Management System (SMS) and contractor safe work procedures through critical control verifications, interactions, and participation in investigations, audits, and toolbox meetings.
  • Recognise driving as a high-risk activity and ensure driving is always done to conditions (measured by IVMS index).
  • Promptly report or escalate all safety, environmental, cultural heritage, and land access matters, incidents, or near misses in accordance with DevEx’s escalation procedure.
  • Develop and maintain healthy relationships with the team, contractors, and other Company stakeholders (e.g., Production Operations).
  • Proactively minimise the risk of construction or well online schedule delays.
  • Coordinate or participate in the Ready for Start Up (RFSU) process as required.
  • Submit or coordinate Ready for Operation (RFO) / Operations Acceptance (OA) of newly commissioned assets.
  • Challenge and continuously improve standard practices and work methods.
  • Upload Commissioning Dossier to the Commissioning SharePoint in accordance with DevEx’s CSU Plan.

What you’ll bring:
You bring solid experience in the oil & gas or mining industry and the technical expertise required to meet DevEx’s standards. You excel in dynamic environments, work well in teams, and are focused on delivering high-quality results. With a strong safety-first mindset and a drive for continuous improvement, you’re ready to contribute to successful commissioning and start-up activities.

For this role, you will be required to hold a Queensland open electrical licence, EEHA competencies for hazardous areas, and a Certificate III or IIII in Instrumentation and Control, ensuring safety, compliance, and technical excellence in commissioning and start-up activities.

What you’ll get:
Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

What you’re part of:
Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.

How to Apply:
Applications must be submitted via the online recruitment system before COB Monday 14th of April 2025.
