What you’ll do:
Based in Brisbane, reporting to the Team Lead the Compliance Advisor will take a lead role in delivering environmental awareness, assurance, and reporting programs within the Santos Onshore Division.  

This will be delivered in line with company values, and standards in accordance with statutory and regulatory obligations.

This role is offered as a full-time permanent position. 

Key accountabilities include:
  • Applies thinking in area of expertise – develops and delivers plans and works as directed aligning to the company’s strategy.
  • Understands change and performance mindset and participates to achieve desired culture outcomes.
  • Understands team purpose and role accountabilities that need to be delivered.
  • Contributes to delivering on cost reduction efficiencies and value creation strategies as directed.
  • Effective and timely collaboration with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Upholds and ensures compliance with all company standards and processes.
  • Ensures compliance with and adherence to standards for EHS performance and behavior consistent with Company’s environmental, and health & safety vision and policies and standards.

Role Specific accountabilities: 
  • Identifies environmental legal requirements in relation to the Onshore Division’s oil and gas activities. 
  • Provides environmental advice and input into the Division’s development, operational and decommissioning plans in accordance with regulatory objectives and company standards.
  • Develops awareness materials and delivers both within the office and field locations.
  • Provides environmental assurance on the Division’s environmental management plans and activities in accordance with regulatory obligations in both office and field locations. Reports on awareness and assurance activities and assesses data to identify emerging issues and trends.
  • Informs environmental performance improvement plans and reports on implementation and measures effectiveness.
  • Participates in environmental risk assessments and incident investigations. 
  • Promotes a high-performance environmental culture through building relationships and influencing key internal stakeholders.
  • Ensures that environmental regulatory obligations and assurance activities are captured in Santo’s systems.
  • Provides support to the Onshore Division and Environment Function and performs other environmental duties as required by the Company.

What you’ll bring:
  • Previous experience in the provision of environmental awareness, compliance and assurance activities, ideally to the petroleum sector.
  • Sound knowledge of Environment legislation, policies and processes related to oil and gas operations is also a requirement.
  • Previous experience working within environmental management systems, tools and industry standards etc.
  • Proven high-level communication and organisational skills.
Ideally, you will be tertiary qualified in related area or equivalent related work experience in a technical area.
