As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)

We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What You’ll Do
Located in Brisbane and reporting to the Team Leader Environment we are seeking an experienced Environmental Adviser to play a key role in driving environmental performance, awareness, and assurance across our Onshore Division. Working closely with operational, development and decommissioning teams, this position is central to supporting safe, compliant and environmentally responsible operations.

If you’re passionate about environmental stewardship and want to help shape high impact environmental programs across dynamic oil and gas operations, we’d love to hear from you.

In this role, you will take the lead in delivering environmental awareness programs, providing assurance against regulatory and company requirements, and supporting the Division through expert environmental advice. Your work will help maintain a strong environmental culture across both office and field locations, ensuring we meet our obligations while driving continuous improvement.

  • Identify environmental legal requirements relevant to onshore oil and gas operations.
  • Provide expert environmental advice to support planning, operations and decommissioning activities.
  • Develop and deliver environmental awareness materials for both office based and field teams.
  • Conduct environmental assurance activities and monitor compliance with management plans and regulatory obligations.
  • Analyse assurance and awareness data to identify trends and emerging issues.
  • Support environmental performance improvement initiatives, including implementation and effectiveness reviews.
  • Participate in environmental risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Build strong relationships to promote a high performance environmental culture.
  • Ensure regulatory obligations and assurance activities are accurately captured within Santos systems.
  • Provide general environmental support and undertake additional environmental duties as required.

What You’ll Bring
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or industry experience within a technical environmental discipline.
  • Experience delivering environmental awareness, compliance and assurance programs—ideally within the petroleum or resources sector.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, policies and processes related to oil and gas operations.
  • Experience working with environmental management systems, tools and industry standards.
  • High level communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
Be part of a team committed to responsible energy and environmental excellence. Work across diverse operational environments with tangible impact.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your environmental career and contribute to safe, sustainable onshore operations, apply now.
