Description & Requirements

Don’t come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.
At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

About the Role
Based in our global headquarters in Adelaide, Santos is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Field Operations Training Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with internal stakeholders, including site field leaders and competency assurance teams, to ensure the efficient coordination and administration of training for our employees working in field sites across Australia, both onshore and offshore.

The primary objection of the Field Operations Training Coordinator is to plan and coordinate training activities for field employees, utilising a competency-based matrix of training items. This role plays a crucial part in supporting operational compliance and ensuring timely processing of training requests.

This role will be offered as a 12-month maternity leave cover.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Participating in the creation of an annual training calendar, based on location-specific requirements.
  • Planning and coordinating training programs, considering participant details and external provider availability.
  • Developing and managing a site-based training budget that captures competency-based training needs and ongoing costs.
  • Maintaining training booking calendars, track course registrations, spend, and provide timely, accurate reports to senior management.
  • Scheduling classes and ensure accurate training records are maintained in the Learning Management System (LMS), including reviewing and approving certificates.
  • Working closely with Competency Assurance and Field Team Leaders to monitor training requirements and ensure provider service delivery.
  • Maintaining clear communication with participants and field leaders, ensuring maximum attendance at courses. Deliver quarterly field reviews to discuss key programs and compliance.
  • Processing and managing invoices, ensuring they align with agreed contracts or Master Service Agreements (MSA).
  • Collaborating with the Team Leader on various projects, improvement initiatives, and other ad-hoc duties.
  • Ensure compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and corporate governance and safety requirements.

About You
To be successful you will bring strong organisational, problem solving and administrative skills to this role. The ideal individual will possess excellent communication and customer service abilities, demonstrating a corporate-level approach in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

You will thrive in a team environment, showing initiative, your ability to multitask and a keen attention to detail, especially when handling large volumes of data. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential to the success in this role, and having prior experience in administrative roles within large organisations, particularly in construction, mining, or oil and gas is highly desirable. Experience in managing competency-based training for field staff, working with FIFO workforces, and familiarity with Learning Management Systems such as SuccessFactors is also highly advantageous. Previous exposure interpreting rosters, training coordination, experience working with vocational training, RTO’s or external training providers will also be beneficial in this role.
