Description & Requirements

Don’t come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.
At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 200 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision 2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:
This role is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of Santos’ Competency Based Training program to field based operations and maintenance personnel, predominantly to the GLNG Upstream assets.

This is a 2:2 FIFO role to our GLNG Upstream assets (e.g. Roma, Fairview, Narrabri, etc), with Brisbane as the point of hire. Travel to other Santos site locations may be necessary depending on work requirements.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Schedule and perform assessments to the required standards.
  • Contribute to sustaining the Santos Work Permit Procedure by delivering relevant training ranging from Permit Holder to Permit Authority.
  • Deliver classroom and field based on-the-job training to Santos (and embedded contractor) operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with other CBT field trainers to ensure consistent delivery of training.
  • Provide support to the Training team for the ongoing analysis, review and development of Santos learning and assessment resources to ensure the currency and relevancy of that material.
  • Provide guidance, training, mentorship, and support to apprentices and trainees working in field locations to assist in their development to become effective team members.
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with operations and maintenance teams to deliver required training whilst minimising disruption to day-to-day activities.
  • Support and coach operations and maintenance personnel in applying CBT/skills recognition, RPL assessments and various pathways to achieve accreditation.
  • Train and coach field-based personnel in the use of the Learning Management System, to support CBT compliance.
  • Ensure that employee training records are managed in approved systems.

What you’ll bring:
We are looking for a proven self-starter to deliver value to our field teams through technical expertise and skills in training and assessment. You will have substantial experience in Upstream and/or Midstream Oil and Gas Operations, Permit Authority, and experience working with apprentices and trainees. Holding Cert III or Cert IV in Process Plant Operations is essential and Cert IV in Training and Assessing is highly regarded (however training can be provided to achieve this qualification).

Additional desired qualification/experience:
  • Experience as a Trainer and Assessor within oil and gas
  • Proven experience in a leadership or mentoring role
  • Experience with large complex and diverse organisations.

What you’ll get:
Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

What you’re part of:
Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.

How to Apply:
Applications must be submitted via the online recruitment system before COB 3rd June 2025.
