As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focused and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:
Based in Brisbane, the Finance Analyst – Development & Joint Ventures provides accurate and insightful financial analysis to support leadership in managing capital expenditure and project activity. In this role, you’ll demonstrate a clear understanding of financial performance, support decision making, and identify key cost drivers across Santos development projects and joint venture portfolio.

You will work closely with finance, commercial and operational teams to deliver high quality reporting, strengthen financial processes and contribute to continuous initiatives that enhance data integrity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data standardisation, automation, and overall efficiency within the finance function, championing the ESSA (Eliminate, Simplify, Standardise, Automate) mindset.
  • Partner with stakeholders to perform month-end accounting, including journals, result reviews, and integrity checks prior to ledger close.
  • Govern and manage financial master data requests for new capital projects and joint venture arrangements.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packs for management review and assist with joint venture reporting, cash calls, budgets, forecasts, and associated AFEs.
  • Support audits and compliance activities, providing detailed transaction data, documentation, and investigation of queries as required.
  • Collaborate with the Fixed Asset Accountant to analyse completed projects and prepare asset capitalisation requests.
  • Contribute to half-year and year-end reporting for Group Finance and generate financial information for government reporting on expenditure commitments.
  • Understand team purpose and deliver team accountabilities
  • Ensure compliance with Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and corporate governance and safety standards.

What you’ll bring:

Essential
  • Proven experience in management or financial accounting roles
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills including Power BI or similar analytical tools
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated stakeholder engagement.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification (candidates significantly progressed toward certification will also be considered).

Desired
  • Strong SAP experience.
  • Experience within large commercial organisations such as oil and gas, resources, construction, manufacturing, or defence.
  • Understanding of joint venture business arrangements and accounting.

What you’ll get:
Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance. In Brisbane, this includes Onsite Gym facilities, Onsite GP services and many more employee benefits.

What you’re part of:
Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.
