Don’t come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.
At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:
Based in Brisbane, you will join Santos as a Financial Analyst, providing financial business partnering, budgeting, and decision-making support for the Cooper Basin and GLNG assets. You will work closely with the Eastern Australia (EA) Procurement & Supply Chain teams, supporting areas including Operations Support (including Camps and Waste), Fleet (including NT), Warehouse & Material Management, Procurement, and Aviation (including Rotary Wing).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial business partnering, insightful analysis, and commentary to key stakeholders, including the GM of Procurement & Supply Chain, team leaders, and Cooper Basin & GLNG managers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recovery of logistics and operations support costs across Eastern Australia (EA) assets.
  • Maximise cost recovery across EA joint ventures while minimising corporate costs.
  • Prepare annual budgets (including allocations), quarterly forecasts, and monthly reports, ensuring accurate cost allocation and actionable insights.
  • Perform month-end accounting processes, including journal preparation, results review, and integrity checks prior to ledger close.
  • Prepare group-wide monthly balance sheet reconciliations for warehouse inventory and assess related stock obsolescence provisions.
  • Identify and implement process and reporting improvements to enhance cost efficiency, accuracy, and understanding.
  • Support the Financial Controller Production Operations, Senior Finance Manager, and GM Finance with reporting and analysis as required.
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making across EA and Corporate teams.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at improving decision-making processes and financial systems.
  • Provide support to functional and corporate departments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), corporate governance, and safety requirements.

What you’ll bring:

Essential
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to partner with management across multiple disciplines.
  • Proficiency in SAP ERP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Tertiary degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting designation such as CA, CPA, or equivalent.

Desirable

Experience supporting Operations, Logistics, or similar disciplines.
Experience in the resources industry and joint ventures is highly desirable.

What you’ll get:
Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance. In Brisbane, this includes Onsite Gym facilities, Onsite GP services and many more employee benefits.

What you’re part of:
Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.
