What you’ll do:
Based at our offices in Port Moresby with the Santos Foundation, the Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager, Finance Reporting Senior Manager and Finance Services Senior Manager to execute month-end processes, provide support to core finance services of accounts payable and receivables and to ensure the timely reporting of Santos and other donor grant funds expenditure and revenue for both PNG and Australia jurisdictions.
  
Key accountabilities include:  
  • Business partnering with Program Management teams to ensure accounting matters are appropriately explained and issues resolved in a timely manner
  • Ensuring accuracy of SAP journals in regard to WBS and cost centre coding, including cost corrections being done on a timely basis
  • Monthly review of open POs and preparation of monthly accruals for Finance Manager review
  • Ensuring bank statement clearing activities are executed in a timely manner
  • Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Finance Managers review and ensuring execution of plans to clear aged items for all Foundation trial balances (PNG, Australia, Timor Leste & Alaska)
  • Monitoring and reconciling inter-company transactions monthly for Finance Manager’s review
  • Preparing monthly accruals and correcting entries for all Foundation trial balances (PNG, Australia, Timor Leste & Alaska)
  • Ensuring all asset purchases are recorded in SAP on a timely basis
  • Planning and executing annual fixed asset verification exercise with recommendations for additions or disposals to Finance Manager
  • Preparing monthly donation tracker and maintaining the donation register and proper recording of revenue invoices for Santos and all external grants including Bel isi PNG subscriptions
  • Assisting with completion of budgets and re-forecasts in partnership with program teams
  • Preparing monthly group cost allocations report, annual financial statements and annual tax returns for Finance Manager reviewAssisting with audit queries by providing required supporting documents
  • Ad hoc requests and projects as directed by the Finance Manager, Finance Services Senior Manager and Finance Reporting Senior Manager
  • Ensuring compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA), and Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements
  
What you’ll bring:
You will be experienced in:  
  • A minimum of 5 years in a General Ledger or Finance Business Partner role 
  • Demonstrated experience in General Ledger activities
  • Strong compliance and financial control experience
  • Proven experience in month-end close activities and preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliation
  • Sourcing, sorting and reporting data from SAP or other ERP systems
  • Medium to advanced Excel skills
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships within a multicultural workforce
  • Working independently, using high-level analytical and conceptual thinking
  • Using initiative and being proactive in resolving issues
  • Employing high-level communication skills, both oral and written.

You will hold a degree in accounting, finance or business management and be CPA qualified. Post-graduate qualifications in finance management are desirable but not essential.
