Don’t come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.
At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.
As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What You’ll Do
Join Santos and play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence across our upstream Cooper operations. We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead the on-the-ground execution of Return to Plan (RTP) activities, with a strong focus on mechanical rotating equipment. This is your opportunity to make a tangible impact in a dynamic, safety-first environment.

This is a FIFO role with a 2 and 2 roster to Moomba via Brisbane or Adelaide

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead RTP execution across upstream Cooper, ensuring alignment with Santos design standards, EHS, and quality requirements.
  • Provide frontline technical support for RTP activities and breakdowns, particularly within the mechanical rotating fleet.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Support, Reliability, and Execution teams to drive continuous improvement and standardization.
  • Deliver technical leadership in complex scenarios with multiple outcomes.
  • Engage with internal and external technical experts and contractors to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Support Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and implement follow-up actions for the compression fleet.
  • Coordinate and prioritize break-in work with the Maintenance Support office team.
  • Conduct LSR Verification audits and ensure compliance with Operational Excellence standards.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and value creation strategies.
  • Act as the Santos Point of Contact (SPOC) during major events, campaigns, or total plant outages.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Trade Certificate in a Mechanical discipline.
  • Significant experience in hydrocarbon production, refining, or petrochemical industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of pumps, turbines, compressors, dehydration systems, well lease skids, and linear infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot autonomously and deliver high-quality fault-finding solutions.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and a commitment to continuous improvement.
You’ll be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

What you’ll get:
Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance.

What you’re part of:
Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone
And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.
