What you’ll do:
Based at Iagifu Ridge, Papua New Guinea, the Mechanical Fitter is a key role in our Santos operated plant and field locations. In this position you will be responsible for the safe execution of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on plant and field equipment, and provide technical assistance, as required, to the Operations Teams.

This is a 28 day on / 28 day off roster
  
Key accountabilities include:  
  • Working in accordance with approved procedures, performing preventative maintenance inspections and corrective maintenance on all campaign-assigned equipment, including gas turbine packages and systems
  • Ensuring scheduled work is executed safely and on time, with constant reference to work instructions and other execution documents
  • Ensuring high-quality close-out reports are recorded in the computerised maintenance system
  • Proactively participating in embedded safety systems and the improvement of safety culture
  • Ensuring emergent and break-in work is planned and executed according to risk ranking and business priorities
  • Inspecting, testing, adjusting and repairing mechanical equipment to satisfy all appropriate governing standards and procedures
  • Positioning and installing mechanical equipment, recording test results using precision measurement equipment
  • Demonstrating a high-quality knowledge of fault-finding, with the ability to troubleshoot autonomously
  • Driving schedule compliance within the Maintenance Team
  • Actively participating in the continuous improvement of maintenance systems and procedures, including Master Data Change Requests, Bill of Materials, Parts issues, and Technical Instruction reviews
  • Serving as the Santos Point of Contact during Campaign Single System Outages, Major projects or Total Plant Shut Downs when required
  • Consistently demonstrating a high level of quality workmanship
  • Compliance with the Santos Management System, Delegation of Authority and Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.  

What you’ll bring:
You will be experienced in:  
  • Mechanical trade work, with a detailed knowledge of turbines, plant processes, equipment and fault-finding techniques
  • Gas engine turbines and the ability to identify corrective actions
  • Understanding and interpretation of relevant technical drawings
  • Working within systems, tools and standards for the mining, resources and energy industry — oil and gas experience is advantageous
  • Gas engine driven compressor packages, Oil and Gas processing equipment, Rotating Equipment and Reciprocating Engines, TEG units, power generation, pumps, shaft alignment and compressor operations
  • Computerised SAP systems and Maintenance Management Systems
  • HYTORQ, alignment tooling, precision measurement equipment and flange management systems
  • Quantifying and assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies.
 
Ideally, you will hold a Certificate III in Engineering and Mechanical Trade and have completed a four-year apprenticeship with a certified and recognised Trades Certificate. You will bring a minimum of two years post-trade experience working within the mining, resources or energy industry, with background experience in live gas plants being a distinct advantage.
