Description & Requirements

Don’t come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.
At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:
Based at our office in Port Moresby, this position ensures all month end accounting activities for the non-operated assets are completed accurately and on a timely basis, as well as assist with the planning, reporting and analysis of non-operated assets.

Non-operated assets include PNG LNG, Papua LNG and P’nyang.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Revenue Accounting: Record Santos’ share of non-operated revenue per standards; ensure completeness via JV liaison.
  • Month-end Accounting: Record Santos’ share of non-operated JV statements and accruals (operating & capital expenditure); reconcile sales/inventory vs. JV reports and journal inventory movements.
  • General Ledger & JV Reconciliations: Ensure timely, accurate reconciliations to source documents; investigate variances.
  • Cash Call Accounting: Manage non-operated JV cash calls and arrange payment when applicable.
  • Financial Analysis & Planning: Support monthly variance analysis, update forecast/budget, respond to ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Financial Statements: Complete half-year and year-end statutory financial statements for subsidiaries.
What you’ll bring:
The ideal candidate will have attained a Bachelor level Accounting or Business Administration degree from a recognised university and have a minimum of 5 years of related work experience. Your strong teamwork skills and ability to communicate to various stakeholders is essential, along with:
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Working knowledge of the Oil & Gas or Mining Industry
  • Exposure to working in a deadline driven environment
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Qualified Member of CPA PNG or working towards becoming a qualified member
Ideally, you will be degree qualified or demonstrate significant training and experience within directly relevant role(s), within large corporate environments.

What you’ll get:
Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

What you’re part of:
Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.

How to Apply:
Applications must be submitted via the online recruitment system before COB Monday 7th April 2025.
