What you’ll do:
Based in Papua New Guinea at Ridge Camp, the Operations Training Team Lead works closely with the PNG Business Unit Field Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure competency-based training and assessment are delivered in line with business priorities.

The role is the primary interface between the Manager Operations Readiness and PNG Field Trainers, with direct oversight of all training execution, logistics, and coordination across PNG operations. You will be responsible for the intake, coordination, and ongoing support of first-year apprentices in PNG.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with the Operations Leadership Team, Manager Operations Readiness, and the Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) team to prioritise frontline training needs for field personnel.
  • Lead PNG-based trainers in the implementation of CBTA across the PNG business.
  • Coordinate the delivery of training through in country and external training providers.
  • Coordinate mobilisation and group travel for PNG BU personnel undertaking out-of-country training.
  • Execute the intake of first-year apprentices and maintain accountability for apprentices during their institutional training year.
  • Work collaboratively with the CBTA team and key stakeholders to evaluate training and assessment outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with the PNG National Apprentice and Trades Training Board (NATTB) regarding the Santos PNG Apprentice Program.
  • Manage and deliver training-related projects as assigned.
  • Administer the Learning Management System (SuccessFactors) in support of competency-based training and assessment.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Santos’ competency-based training and assessment framework.
  • Ensure compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and corporate governance and safety requirements.

What you’ll bring:
To be successful in this role, you will bring extensive operational experience combined with a proven background in training and competency assurance.
Essential 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil and gas process or production operations. 
  • At least 5 year’s experience in a training or learning delivery role. 
  • Demonstrated experience in training and competency assurance systems, including competency-based training and assessment. 
  • Proven experience in administration and working with Learning Management Systems, such as SuccessFactors. 
  • Cert IV TAE40116, Cert IV TAE40122 or higher
  • Australian PMA 02/08 Cert III/IV or trade qualifications
Desired 
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications or trade background
  • SuccessFactors LMS or equivalent.
