What you’ll do:

The Operator Maintainer ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of Coal Seam Gas (CSG) field assets. This includes monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment to minimise downtime and support production goals. 

Location : Roman / Point of Hire : Brisbane
Roster : 2 on / 2 off
  
Key accountabilities include:  
  • Follow the Santos Management System, including permit to work, hazard control, and incident reporting. 
  • Comply with EHS standards; participate in audits, act as a safety watch, and stop unsafe work. 
  • Perform plant/field duties per Reliability & Integrity Management Plans and 2-week maintenance schedules. 
  • Operate and maintain gathering systems and support daily operations.
  • Assist with mechanical tasks such as equipment maintenance and piping work. 
  • Conduct wellsite and gathering system flushing on live equipment.
  • Support the planning and execution of shutdowns. 
  • Maintain strong communication with operations personnel and foster positive relationships. 
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve equipment reliability.
  • Identify and eliminate operational waste to reduce costs.
  • Respond promptly to equipment faults and ensure timely mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Operate and maintain production equipment per procedures to extend lifespan and avoid damage. 
  • Help develop, review, and implement procedures and work instructions.
  • Qualify as a Permit Authority and manage the permit to work system. 
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members and new employees. 
  
What you’ll bring:

Dedicated, team focus approach to your work. You will have the demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, assess and determine the most effective and safe course of action. 

You will bring your proven experience in the oil and gas or mining industry and a strong background in heavy vehicle maintenance to a dynamic role that requires essential qualifications including an HR Vehicle Licence, Truck Mounted Crane competency, DG Licence or Dogger competency, and a Forklift Licence.

Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Proficient word processing skills utilising the MS Office suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Competent in the use of SAP & other computer systems.
  • Mechanical/Fitter Qualification 
  • Trade or tertiary qualification in relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Skid steer Bobcat/Tractor Licence.
