What you’ll do:
The purpose of this role is to perform field maintenance and operational activities, including instrumentation and electrical tasks, to ensure the safe and efficient management of the GLNG pipeline network.

This is a 2:2 FIFO role based at Fairview Field, with Brisbane as the point of hire.
  
Key accountabilities include:  
  • Perform operational, maintenance, and I/E tasks per standards and work orders within the 2-week plan. 
  • Respond promptly to malfunctioning or unserviceable critical equipment.
  • Use SAP to ensure compliance with IMP and Work Schedules.
  • Maintain effective communication with operations personnel.
  • Act as Permit Authority and manage the Santos Work Permit Procedure (SWPP).
  • Supervise contractors on-site as per SWPP.
  • Collaborate with Pipelines Field Coordinator, planner/schedule, and engineers to meet production and maintenance goals. 
  • Conduct pigging operations, Cathodic Protection checks, and pipeline inspections as per schedule.
  • Assist in developing/updating standard operating procedures.
  • Manage asset shutdowns and act as On-Scene Commander during emergencies.
  • Operate and maintain production equipment to extend life and prevent damage. 
  • Isolate and prepare equipment for maintenance.
  • Monitor operations to identify cost-saving opportunities. 
  • Use IT systems (e.g., SAP, EHS Toolbox) to maximise efficiencies. 
  • Engage in training and development to maintain core and job competencies.
  • Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and hazards per Santos policies.
  • Participate in safety, environmental meetings, and emergency response exercises.

  
What you’ll bring: 
The ideal candidate will have completed an apprenticeship in electrical and instrumentation industrial systems and attained a certificate III in Electrical / Instrumentation trade. Your ability to demonstrate competency in Instrumentation and electrical systems relating to oil and gas, pipeline control, and operation is essential, along with:
  • Delta V experience.
  • Detailed control system operation and programming.
  • Preference for 5-10 years industrial experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems. 
  • Gas chromatography (Daniels/Emerson, ABB)
  • Metering Validations
  • Solar and Battery testing
