Description & Requirements

At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)
We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:
The Procurement Business Partner Eastern Australia delivers strategic procurement strategy and execution support to Santos asset development teams. The role remit includes construction of new, or upgrades to existing infrastructure across Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory. This includes a diverse range of project activities across gas, water and power networks spanning thousands of kilometres.  The role also supports activities delivering Santos’ emissions reduction targets.

Based in the Santos Brisbane office, this role offers a truly unique portfolio in scale and diversity across the Australian energy landscape.  You will be at the forefront of procurement strategy for an exciting portfolio of projects.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Drive continuous improvement in the way that project procurement is delivered within Santos through best practice planning, supplier collaboration and management.
  • Advise project teams on project contracting strategies, Santos Management System compliance and continuous application of lessons learnt.
  • Deliver Project Contracting Strategies in accordance with the Opportunity Development Process from early concept through to execution.
  • Provide expert guidance to project teams on procurement, contract forms, contract principles, commercial models and the evaluation of alternate project contracting quilts.
  • Engaging with a wide range of complex services and goods including engineering, civils, pipelines, facilities construction, compression, power generation, battery solutions and processing plant.
  • Engage with Santos category management teams to generate insights across Santos’ project portfolio.
  • Maintain reporting and compliance to EA Australian Industry Participation Plans.
  • Execute strategic sourcing and contract management activities to deliver project objectives.
  • Continually re-prioritise activities based on project demands and constraints.
  • Representing Santos procurement internally and externally up to senior management level.

What you’ll bring:
Suitable candidates will have strong procurement, contract and commercial model knowledge, highly advanced communication skills (verbal and written) and an ability to continually prioritise activities in a busy project delivery team. An ability to think strategically but also ensure Santos’ development activities are delivered on time, cost and quality is paramount. The successful candidate will form part of a collegiate team, focussed on delivery and continuous sharing of expertise. As a seasoned procurement professional, the successful candidate will also support the execution and management of contracts as required, including conducting market intelligence, sourcing and claim resolution.  Existing or developing ability to identify category opportunities across a portfolio of project contracts.

You will be degree qualified (e.g. Business, Commerce, Economics, Law, Engineering), or have equivalent professional experience, and be able to demonstrate significant experience within relevant role(s) in oil & gas, mining, resources, utilities, infrastructure or construction etc.

What you’ll get:
