Two divisions - Santos Energy Solutions and Santos Upstream Gas and Liquids - are accountable for global portfolio management and strategy.
 
About the Role
Based at our global headquarters in Adelaide, this position will play a pivotal role in the Corporate Accounting team within Group Finance, ensuring the delivery of accurate and effective accounting for corporate costs at Santos. You'll partner closely with cost centre leaders to provide financial and accounting support, offering insights on expenditure, variances to budget, and targets that align with the company's overarching objectives.

Key accountabilities include:  
  • Prepare and review monthly journals for corporate cost centres, and ensure corporate overheads are accurately allocated across business units.
  • Lead the reporting for the Corporate Centre, including commentary on movements and variances to budget, and manage all related deliverables.
  • Business Partner corporate cost centre leaders and managers, provide insightful financial analysis and reporting, and effectively communicate key financial results and variances to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with leaders to deliver accurate annual budgets and forecasts for corporate cost centres, along with presenting summaries and insights.
  • Manage monthly reconciliations for key corporate accounts and work cross department to resolve any variances in a timely manner.
  • Assist various teams with corporate accounting matters and provide ad-hoc project support as required.

About You
With 5-7 years of professional experience in accounting, ideally within a large organization or the oil and gas industry, you bring a deep understanding of accounting standards and financial analysis. Your expertise spans budgeting, reporting, and business partnering, where you've successfully collaborated with leaders to drive financial strategy and results. You're a confident communicator, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills that allow you to influence and engage stakeholders effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, you combine technical know-how with practical insight to make an impact. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field, and being a qualified accountant (ICAA, CPA, or equivalent), you're ready to take on new challenges and elevate corporate financial performance.
