What you’ll do:

As our Senior Reservoir Engineer working in the Cooper Reservoir Management Team, you will be working in conjunction with the Cooper Production Engineering team to maximise the value from the existing Cooper Basin wells through reservoir management studies, reservoir surveillance activities and the identification of In-Wellbore (IWB) opportunities.

Accountabilities for this position are:
  • Provide Reservoir Engineering support to the Cooper Basin Reservoir Management Team (CRMT).
  • Lead reservoir engineering studies and reservoir characterization of assigned fields and opportunities, integrating available pressure, production, and other dynamic data.
  • Working in conjunction with the Cooper Production Engineering Team generate, and keep current, a seriatim of IWB opportunities with the aim to increase production and reduce unit operating costs.
  • Working with the team Geologists and the Cooper Production engineers and with wider Cooper Subsurface Teams, design and execute surveillance campaigns, and implement monitoring protocols for Cooper Basin assets.
  • Ensure all subsurface technical work is appropriately assured through formal and informal technical reviews, both internally and externally (JV). Document and report work at both working level and as required, for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide subsurface operations and execution support for IWB and surveillance operations as required. 
  • Provide technical support during YE Reserves process.
  • Complete IWB lookbacks and update estimates of field reserves, production potential, and risk using Santos’s procedures and processes.
  • Keep up to date with new technology and where appropriate, develop, justify, and implement the use of new and innovative technology/software.
  
What you’ll bring:

10+ years’ in the oil and gas industry with demonstrated experience working in multi-disciplinary subsurface teams generating / evaluating drilling and IWB opportunities. You will have experience in resources assessments, formulating, documenting and presenting to resource certifiers. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, effective and collaborative relationships across broad stakeholder groups. 
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and influence key stakeholders both internally and externally on the desired outcome.
  • Capacity to work effectively and autonomously under pressure, prioritise and handle competing priorities, meet deadlines and bring tasks to completion.

Essential qualifications required for this position are:

Degree qualified subsurface professional (Reservoir/Petroleum/Production Engineer)
Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or working towards becoming registered.
