What you’ll do:
Based in Iagifu Ridge on a 28 day on/ 28 day off roster, the Site Manager is the single point of accountability for all on-site activities, from early works through to Ready for Operations (RFO), handover, punch list close-out, and project demobilisation. 

This role drives on-site execution, sets priorities where demands conflict, and makes the final call on trade-offs between facilities, pipelines, and resources. Working with the Senior Manager APF Projects, the Project Leadership Team, and Santos Base Business, the Site Manager delivers the outcomes that determine project success. 

This is a 2-year Max Term Contract opportunity. We are open to receiving expatriate applicants (Point of Hire Brisbane) as well as PNG National applicants. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and lead a strong project safety culture on site, including visible leadership, proactive reporting, site safety audits, incident initiation and participation in investigations. 
  • Act as Person in Charge (PIC) for the Project, accountable for all site activities and emergency response management. 
  • Oversee and execute site construction plans from early works through to completion and handover. 
  • Provide direction to the Construction Lead, Pipeline and Construction Lead Facilities where priorities conflict, maintaining a whole project perspective. 
  • Ensure all construction and execution activities comply with regulatory, corporate and functional requirements. 
  • Ensure core project resources (HSS, Quality and others) are effectively allocated across site activities. 
  • Maintain accountability for site team resourcing and competency through the Execute Phase. 
  • Manage site interfaces with Santos base operations, ensuring appropriate shared services support. 
  • Interface with concurrent on-site projects to assess and manage impacts arising from changing business priorities. 
  • Partner with field-based Project Controls to ensure accurate cost and progress reporting, including forecast performance. 
  • Identify and address communication gaps or stakeholder misalignment at site. 
  • Develop and lead an integrated site team capable of executing scope, making sound decisions and resolving conflict effectively. 

What you’ll bring:
  • Extensive experience in construction and construction management roles. 
  • Experience with brownfield hydrocarbon projects. 
  • Proven track record delivering in complex, challenging, and remote environments. 
  • Experience in remote, developing countries and wet tropics environments. 
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, conflict resolution, and coaching/mentoring skills. 
  • Highly effective communication, coordination, and collaboration abilities, with a talent for building strong working relationships. 
  • Solid technical understanding of the oil and gas value chain. 
  • Knowledge of standards and codes for hydrocarbon infrastructure construction in PNG. 
  • Ability to implement project strategy while maintaining quality control and HSES compliance. 
  • Strong commercial acumen and sound business judgment regarding people, projects, and processes. 
  • Delivery-focused, with a collaborative “team player” mindset. 
  • Innovative problem-solving skills, especially in group or high-pressure environments. 
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, or a related discipline. 
  • PNG project construction execution experience desirable. 
  • Construction or safety management certifications desirable.
